FAQs
Furniture assembly & move-in setup FAQs.
Can you assemble a whole furniture order after I move in?
Yes! Multi-item jobs and new-apartment setup are a good fit. Send the full list of beds, dressers, desks, shelves, and anything else you need assembled, along with item links and your move-in date. I’ll help work out the scope and whether hourly work, a fixed quote, or the Full Day Package makes sense.
Do you assemble IKEA and Wayfair furniture?
Yes — IKEA, Wayfair, and plenty of other brands. You can mix brands in the same appointment. Send the item links and quantities so I know what’s involved. See furniture assembly services.
Will you match an IKEA or Wayfair assembly price?
Often, yes! Send me the assembly quote or a screenshot and the item links. I’m happy to see if I can match it for the same work, but I can’t promise every match. We’ll agree on the price before you book. Price-match details.
Does Night Owl apply if we start before 8pm?
Yes! It’s based on when I’m working, not when we start. For a 7–9pm job at my standard rate, 7–8pm is $60 and 8–9pm is $50 — $110 in labor before any other discount. If you also use Flex Start, it’s $50/hr before 8pm and $40/hr from 8pm onward. See the discounts.
Are you insured?
Yes! I carry business liability insurance with $1 million in coverage. My live insurance certificate is available to view here.
Do you provide estimates?
Yes. My standard rate is $60/hr. Item links, screenshots, photos, or project details help me estimate the time involved. If you would rather have a fixed price, you can request a quote before booking.
What areas do you serve?
I’m based in Arlington and serve the wider DMV, including DC, Arlington, Fairfax County, Reston, Great Falls, Bethesda, Potomac, North Bethesda, Rockville, and nearby Maryland communities such as Hyattsville. Larger projects may justify travel farther out depending on scope. See the Service Areas page for more detail.
Do I need to be there while you work?
No. As long as I can access the work site and have clear instructions, I can work independently. For example, furniture can be delivered to an apartment before you arrive, assembled in advance, and ready when you move in.
What if something cannot be completed on-site?
If an agreed-upon task cannot be completed once I’m there — for example, a mount I can’t safely do or equipment I can’t configure — you do not pay for that portion of the work.
Do you charge deposits or cancellation fees?
Most smaller jobs do not require a deposit. Larger jobs may require a deposit to confirm the appointment. See the Policies & Safety page for deposit and cancellation details.
What do I need to know about the Full Day Package?
This is the best value when you need a full day for a large move-in, home setup, or a long project list. Because I block the day for you, I ask for a 50% deposit. It is meant to cover a full project day, not just a short daytime window.
What is the best way to contact you?
The website form, text, WhatsApp, and email are all fine. I try to reply quickly, but I may be actively working. If you have not heard back after a reasonable amount of time, a follow-up message is welcome.
How do same-day requests work?
Text first and ask if I have availability today. Send what you need done and any useful photos or item links. Same-day help is not guaranteed. Same-day requests start at $120.
What about hauling?
My vehicle is a 2003 Suburban, so I can carry most furniture items, especially before assembly. I can haul old furniture and project-related trash like boxes, but not hazardous items or general household waste. If you need the truck, mention it when booking — I often travel by Metro or moped and may not have it without advance notice. Box truck or pickup rental may be possible case by case.
What can’t you do?
Ceiling mounts, plaster/concrete mounting, wall-mounted Murphy beds, plumbing, electrical work, roofing, deck building, and general-contractor style projects are usually not a fit. TV mounting is available on drywall only.
What is your policy on AI use?
No. I use AI for behind-the-scenes work such as helping build and maintain this website, but messages and conversations with clients come directly from me. That can occasionally mean a slightly longer wait while I’m working, but I would rather give you a personal response than automate client communication.
